The Budget Computer Vol 2

This is continuation from
The Budget Computer Vol 1

Ok so you have determined what you intend to use the computer for, great!!! Now you have to set up your budget. How much can you afford to spend on this new machine. If you want to get a top of the line machine and spend only 300 dollars for it you will probably be sorely disapointed at what you find. So this first thing you have to do is come up with a reasonable budget for what you want to do.

A complete setup including things like a monitor and keyboard should range in the following prices for the following basic setups.

System 1: Basic word processing, surfing the internet, writing blogs, uploading digital photos. $400-$500.

System 2: Light to moderate gaming, basic multi-media, and everything system 1 can do. $500-$600

System 3: Standard Gaming machine that can handle the next best game. $700-800

System 4: Power Gamer who will be running many different applications at once and will need to do a bunch of things at once. $1000+

Those are just some rough guidelines based on my experience from building my own PCs as well as that of friends. There is certainly wiggle room in there based on your exact needs this is simply to get you thinking about what you should target and what is reasonable expectations.

Also in Vol 1 I mentioned mobile computing. If you are looking at a laptop you can pretty much add 50% on to the ranges listed above and that should get you close to what you are looking at spending for those given scenarios.
